WORK EXPERIENCE:

Guam Humanities Council, Hagatna, Guam. Assistant to the Executive Director – July 2007 to present

Full-time; office manager, assists Executive Director and Program Officer with implementation and evaluation of Council programs including the Community Grants program, creates and circulates promotional and press materials, coordinates and maintain vendor files, maintains Board records and calendars, liaison to all staff on administrative manners.

Sorenson Pacific Broadcasting, Hagatna, Guam. News Reporter – Feb. – July 2007

Full-time; news anchor on Newstalk K57, writing and reporting news stories;

- Conducting interviews, research, live reports on location, selecting and editing sound bites, scheduling guests and calls for live shows, post stories on website, assisted Pacific News Center;

- Co-Host for “The Buzz” Television Show, Conducting interviews, research, in studio and on location.

Sanctuary, Inc. Chalan Pago, Guam. Prevention Worker, Project Assistant- Oct. 2004-Feb. 2007

Full time; involved with developing and implementing special projects;

- Facilitator of the Guam Council on Arts and Humanities (CAHA) grant, coordinated and facilitated workshops for consumers funded under CAHA grant, managed grant budget, recruited local artists, coordinated scheduling and facilitator payroll, completed program reports and grant applications, coordinated traveling exhibit and special art auctions, created listings, posters, booklets, labels, etc.

- Certified HIV/STD Prevention Counselor provided workshops and presentations for parents and youth, included discussion of risk behaviors and pregnancy prevention.

- Substance Abuse Prevention Worker and screener; group facilitator for supportive counseling groups, included use of art therapy, music, creative writing, and meditation in sessions, also focusing on “triggers” and management methods for anger, self-esteem, and communication;

- Drafted awarded grant from Guam Humanities Council for “Reflections of Our Youth” Oral History and Photo Exhibit Project, Project Coordinator for project, met with GHC to expand and carry out project, worked with Humanities Scholar to develop project, designed displays and posters with graphic artist, coordinated traveling exhibits and publicity;

- Coordinated and facilitated Sanctuary’s Motheread/Fatheread Program including publicity, recruitment, and reports; worked with Program Coordinator at GHC, worked with parents and program curriculum;

- Co-coordinated 10th Annual “Too Cool To Do Drugs” Free Parent and Youth Conference, closely worked with sponsors, logistical and program planning, coordinated volunteers;

- Contributed in grant writing and applications for Administration of Native Americans Grant and Abstinence Education Grant; met with community partners for program development and technical assistance;

- Sanctuary representative for Prutehi Hao/Films For Youth Project; worked with youth in art department; and public presentations of final edit of film;

- Wrote, directed, and co-edited various commercials for Sanctuary with KUAM

- Assisted in Micronesia Youth Service Network (MYSN), co-coordinated 2050 MYSN Conference; Sanctuary’s MYSN Representative for Flame Tree Festival in Saipan;

- Worked as Residential Staff in three shelter programs to include transporting clients, mentoring, tutoring, meal preparation, and overall supervision of youth consumers;

- Created events programs, pamphlets, designed posters;

- Assisted and Volunteered in community-based activities with community partners, conducted outreach displays and presentations at various schools and venues.

Temporary (Grant Period); Work with individuals with disabilities and mental illness, consumers of Guam Mami, as well as youth receiving services under Project Ifamaguon’ta; coordinated workshop curriculum, technique demonstrations, variety of mediums, styles, coordinated floor plan for exhibit.
