Silvia Mendiola
Program Coordinator - Guma' Isa
Mrs. Mendiola is the current Program
Coordinator for the Guma’ Isa Program .Prior to her current
position, Mrs. Mendiola served as the House Manager for Guma’
Isa. She first came to Guma’ Mami as a volunteer in the Residential
Programs. Mrs. Mendiola holds a Mag.a (FH) für sozialwissenschaftliche
Berufe degree in Social Work from the University of Applied Sciences
Fachhochschule Vorarlberg in Austria. (This degree is the equivalent
to a Masters degree in the Austrian post secondary educational system.)
Mrs. Mendiola has vast experience in various fields
of social work, including working with people with developmental
disabilities. Other work experiences consist of working with people
with addictions, senior citizens and children. In addition she has
worked in residential settings with women and their children as
well as with refugees.
During her studies Mrs. Mendiola emphasized on culturally
sensitive social work and gained valuable experience therein through
studies on Guam and in Finland as well as international student
research projects and specialized programs funded by the European
Union.
