Wellness Recovery Action Planning Facilitator Training - Guma’ Mami, Inc. through the Sagan Mami Enrichment Center conducted the Copeland Center WRAP facilitator training conducted by Jo Halligan, CertPS, CRE, Co Director, J&M etccc. The May 24 – 28, 2010 training culminated with certificates presented to Esther Arca, Berni Grajek, Michael Edgerle, Thomas Atalig and Jermi Toves. Following the WRAP Facilitator Training Ms. Arca and Mr. Toves conducted a 3 – day WRAP Facilitation for twelve (12 ) members of Sagan Mami. This project was funded by the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse through a grant from the Center for Mental Health Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
On June 2 and 3, 2010 Guma’ Mami, Inc. in conjunction with the Sagan Mami Enrichment Center sponsored the “Transformation talking about it and doing it are not the same…” learning opportunity. Topics covered by presenter Miichael Halligan, MS, LPC, CertPS included the history of mental health and the mental health consumer movement, a dialogue on the devastating effects and consequences of trauma, mental health recovery and the recovery process, a discussion on the PACE process and ACT and overviews of self-directed care, WRAP, economic development, and peer support . Thirty five (35) individuals participated in this learning opportunity . This project was funded by the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse through a grant from the Center for Mental Health Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
Guam's 2010 Mental Health Block Grant Approved by the Center for Mental Health Services! Guam's Mental Health Block Grant was approved during the Center for Mental Health Services Block Grant Peer Reviews in San Francisco, California on November 17, 2009. Payless Foundation
The Payless Foundation raised $10,000.00 from the Kick the Fat 5K fundraising event . Guma' Mami and other local organizations received proceeds from that event.
Christmas Tree Group
Guma' Mami won the Second Annual Shieh Su Ying Charity Tree decorating contest! The sailors from the USS John Paul Jones COMREL take a break after a morning or volunteering at the Independent Group Home and the Mary Clare Home.
