In
November 2001 Guma’ Mami became a new partner and was awarded
funding by the Governor’s Community Outreach Federal Programs
Office, Office of the Governor through the Violence Against Women
Act formula grants under the U.S. Department of Justice. Guma’
Mami’s grant project entitled, STOP Violence Against Older
and Women with Disabilities, places emphasis on prevention, awareness
and capacity-building activities, legal services, as well as support
groups and education for women with disabilities and seniors who
are victims of domestic violence and abuse.
In November 2006 Guma’ Mami was also awarded
funding by the Governor’s Community Outreach Federal Programs
Office, Office of the Governor through the Rural Domestic Violence
& Child Victimization Grant Program.
These two grant awards help support outreach activities,
trainings on domestic violence prevention, and support groups for
victims of domestic violence.
